Some questions you may be asking

What skills or experience are required to complete these kits?
- None is required in either horology or model-making, just patience and common-sense in following the step-by-step instructions.

Could my wife do it?
- Probably better than you! However, an offer of some guidance or help with the filing of the frames in some kits might be appreciated.

Are any special tools or materials required?

- None at all. Just commonly-owned hand tools for dismantling and re-assembly, and assorted files, polishing papers and paste for finishing. Full instructions are issued with each kit. Should you have any difficulty in obtaining recommended files or papers locally, we can be of assistance.

How much time is required to finish a kit?
- It depends on the kit chosen, the individual and the standard set. Given these factors, an hour a day spent on The Great French Wheel kit could take four to eight weeks to yield an excellent result.

What if I'm not completely delighted with my kit when I receive it?
- Return it to us, undamaged, for a full refund. We guarantee that if, for any reason, you are unable to complete one of our kits, we will finish it and build it for you for no extra charge. We will quote you for any filing, polishing, replacement of damaged parts and delivery costs. However all correctly finished components are guaranteed for life.

Should I lacquer the finished and finally polished components?
- No. Your finished clock is a future antique and should be allowed to acquire an attractive patina through aging (if you bought an antique you would devalue it by cleaning it!). Also there is a danger of lacquer fouling the gear teeth and pinion holes.

What will my clock be worth when it is finished?
- A lot more than you paid for the kit! To you your clock will be priceless as you will have created an heirloom that will last for generations. An exact copy of our Great French Wheel clock (plated and in a display case) is retailed at £3500 by jewellers.

When my clock is finished, can I get a case or a base and glass dome to protect and display it?
- We are happy to give you advice on suitability and availability.
